Categories of Sharing Behaviour

This was inspired by a comment Robin left on www.flickr.com/photos/lynetter/157352142 (thanks Robin).

He was exploring whether it was possible to categorise different types of sharing behaviour. This is my attempt at that.

Hopefully it's self explanatory… the one thing that isn't might be the "sharing is the icing on the cake" bit. Let me use Delicious as an example. I'm an avid user of delicious (http://del.icio.us/lynetter) and it's great that it lets me share my bookmarks. But, sharing isn't a motivation for why I use delicious. For me, it's 99% selfish… I use delicious because it makes it easy for ME to keep track of interesting /useful things I find online, no matter where I'm accessing from. If I can help others in the process then that's a bonus, it's the 'cake icing'. 🙂
