Most of the UK press featured the research from Kantar Worldpanel about the growing buying power of older women and their influence on fashion.
Women in their fifties are now spending almost £7 billion a year on clothes and accessories.
Whilst the spend of the 50+ is growing the same cannot be said for their children and grandchildren.
Women aged 50 and over spent £6.7 billion on fashion in 2013, up 4.5% from £6.4 billion in the previous year, while those under 50 spent £9.5 billion, down by 1.3% from £9.6 billion in 2012.
