Social media blogs are a dime a dozen these days, it’s impossible to keep up with them all. We’ve been brainstorming our personal favourites here at Market Sentinel and came up with 34 blogs that we unanimously agree are great reads for people in the social media and digital planning industry.

New Media Knowledge is a “learning hub” for digital marketers. Their website is full of great articles, commentary and white papers, making NMK a great resource for news and market intelligence. Their site often includes articles about digital marketing best practices within different industries, as well as interviews with industry leaders.

Digital Buzz

Digital Buzz Blog is all about digital marketing with a focus on the latest ad campaigns, marketing ideas, viral trends, industry news, and other insights on digital trends. It’s a great place to keep up to speed on what’s hot in digital marketing.

Brian Solis

Brian Solis is principal at Altimeter Group and highly regarded as a thought leader in the digital marketing world. His blog regularly publishes his thoughtful, practical posts on best practices and emerging trends in social media.

Chris Brogan

Chris Brogan is a speaker and consultant for top companies on topics such as the future of business communications and social software technologies. He regularly blogs his thoughts on how businesses should tackle challenges in communications and how to use new tools to keep up with trends.

The Net-Savvy Executive

The Net-Savvy executive is authored by Nathan Gilliatt, principal at Social Target, a social media analysis company. His blog focuses on how businesses can leverage social media – including monitoring and analytics – as a market intelligence tool.

It’s essentially a place for digital marketing professionals to establish their expertise in the field. As such, lots of great content about social media makes its way here on a regular basis.

Marshall Sponder is an independent web analytics and SEO/SEM specialist who is highly influential in the world of web metrics and analytics. He often blogs about tools and trends in the web and social media analytics industry.


Onalytica is another social media monitoring company which regularly blogs about influencers around specific topics, using their own tools for the analysis.

Social Fresh is social media news portal focused on social media education with a long list of contributors from within the industry. Topics range from social media news, trends and best practices for people who are interested in social media and how businesses can succeed with it.


Socialnomics provides news, statistics and studies with a good mix of articles, some that makes you smile and some that make you think.


FastGush is social media news portal and an excellent source of news on all the major social networks, with articles on social media marketing and online trends.

Read Write Web is a technology blog which frequently features in-depth analysis and insights on various aspects of social media, and technology on the whole.
