indigenous content – created by the natives

Hello, I’m back. 🙂

For various reasons I’ve decided to take a new approach to this set. I’ll still do slides, but I’m going to cut back on the prose and explanation of my thinking that goes along with it.

This slide is pretty much self-explanatory anyway. I’ve always hated the term 'user-generated content' but could never come up with an alternative – the best was ‘grassroots media’ but somehow that seemed a bit narrow to me. Now Clay Shirky has come across another suggestion: “indigenous content”, by Kio Stark. I like its resonance.

I came across this on Clay’s blog: many.corante.com/archives/2007/08/03/usergenerated_neolog…
