Click Image to Enlarge This research is about 2 years old now as based on surveys conducted in 2004, but I was asked today to create a couple of slides on multitasking and it’s still some of the best data I’ve come across on it. It’s taken from the Kaiser Family Foundation report called “Generation M: media in the lives of 8-18 year olds” report which you can download for free from www.kff.org/entmedia/7251.cfm. The information about multitasking is on page 36 in the main report, and on page 139 in Appendix 7.3. The statistics about 12-18 year olds are actually for 7th-12th graders, but I’ve converted to age ranges to make it easier to understand. Even though this data is for the US, I’d imagine it holds true for most other countries where TV, mobiles, PC, etc are widespread.
