Amazon.com has agreed to acquire casual online games portal Reflexive Entertainment, the Internet retail giant said Wednesday.
Reflexive offers free online web games for players to record high scores and earn medals to share with friends.
"We’ll be able to expand our distribution network to include Amazon’s amazing distribution channel,” Reflexive CEO Lars Brubaker wrote in a blog post on the site.
Reflexive also offers PC and Mac games from developers, such as Parking Dash by PlayFirst and the Peggle games by PopCap, as well as internally developed games such as Ricochet and Big Kahuna Reef.
Games are available for a free trial or for purchase, with the price usually hovering around the $20 range. “With Amazon we will bring a huge new group of customers into play,” CEO Brubaker said in the blog. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Amazon did say there would be no staff changes under the deal.
